Creating a Beautiful Farmhouse Bathroom

I have to admit it…I am in love with everything about the Farmhouse bathroom! This style allows us to bring together functional items with pieces that evoke a feeling of nostalgia and a simpler time. Layered simplicity is key in this style. Characteristics of the Farmhouse Style include the mixing of metals with wood, a soft muted color palette, and elements of nature like wood, animals, plants, and flowers, and pieces aged with patina.

To create this look, start by selecting your color palette. Typical colors in the Farmhouse style are soft whites and grays, dusty blues, smoky greens, or muted pinks or purples. Next, decide on your focal point for the room. Is your focal point a beautiful antique dresser that has been converted to a bathroom vanity like the one pictured below?

Do you love taking a bath? Then, make your focal point a vintage clawfoot tub or a modern tub with soft, curvy edges.
Surfaces like subway tile in the shower can be combined with unique tile with a mosaic pattern on the floor. Fabric window treatments provide another way to soften the space and add color, texture or interest.

Wallcovering is a way to bring in a natural element. Consider selecting a pattern a floral or fauna pattern. Lighting and mirrors in the Farmhouse style tend to be more traditional. Shelving and fixtures offer another opportunity to incorporate wood and metal pieces. Accessories provide another way to highlight your treasured pieces that have a natural patina. Most importantly, have fun and make the space your personal retreat.
