Tigard is a city in Washington County, Oregon. Wilson M. Tigard arrived in the area known as “East Butte” in 1852 and became involved in organizing and building the East Butte School, a general store, and a meeting hall. The town was renamed “Tigardville” after Wilson M. Tigard in 1886 and ultimately named Tigard in 1907 to distinguish it from the nearby town, Wilsonville.
